June 15, 2009 saw the Watertown Employee Federal Credit Union receiving approval from NCUA to change its name to Avanti Federal Credit Union.
On March 1 2018, Avanti Credit Union merged with Glacial Lakes Educational Employees Federal Credit Union. The merger saw to the expansion of its field of membership to:
- Persons who live and work, worship or attend school in and business and other legal entities located in Clark, Codington, Deuel, Grant and Hamlin Counties in South Dakota
- Members of record of Avanti Federal Credit Union as of the effective date of its community expansion on May 16 2012.
- Also, Members of record of Glacial Lakes Educational Employees Federal Credit Union #9233 as of the effective date of its community expansion on March 1, 2018.
However, Members of the union are federally insured to $250,000 by National Credit Union Administration (NCUA), which is United States government agency.
