How to Use SimpLink on an LG TV

What is SimpLink?

SimpLink is LG’s brand name for HDMI-CEC which controls and manages multimedia devices conveniently with the TV remote control via the SimpLink menu. It is a feature embedded in the HDMI spec.

Power Off

Once Auto power sync is set ON mode, your SimpLink linked devices will turn off when your LG TV will turn off.

Power On

All devices is turned on when your tv is turned on if your Auto power sync mode is set on ‘ON’.

How to Use SimpLink on an LG TV

If you are having issues using SimpLink or you don’t know how to use it on your LG TV, the steps here will give you a guide in configuring it.

  • Start by connecting your SimpLink HDMI output port to your LG smart tv’s HDMI port, with the aid of the HDMI cable.
  • Thereafter, take your remote control and press on the Home icon tab and choose the ‘More’ button (it is represented by three vertical dots at the top right of your screen).
  • Then go to General option and choose the SimpLink option.
  • Turn on the SimpLink by setting ON.
  • Then you can set your ‘Auto Power sync’ setting ON mode. Then your SimpLink device will be automatically turned on when you start your LG smart TV and turn off when you will turn off your TV.
  • Next, you need to turn on your device which you want to connect to LG TV, then the input will change. If it is not automatically connected, you will need to click on the input button.

Things to Note

  • You have to ensure that the below points in your device is not connected to the TV.
  • The SimpLink feature only works with SimpLink enabled external devices. You can check to see if your device comes with the SimpLink logo in order to meet the requirements.
  • You will be required to use the High-Speed HDMI cable with CEC. This will help in providing high-speed data transfer between devices.
