Is It Safe to Download Ringtones from the Internet?

Knowing how unsafe the internet can be, it is okay to worry about such. To answer this question, it is hinged on your ability to identify dubious websites that try to get you with free ringtones. You can help yourself by seeing if the website contains many ads or demands for money. One other way to identify these dubious websites is when you see some ringtones, and upon clicking the link, it goes ahead to download something else. You should look closely to see the file extension you are trying to download is what you want. Any file with an executable file extension like (exe, msi, dmg, apk) should be avoided.

You will also think about the legality of the ringtones. You will find a mix of both legal and illegal ringtones on some websites. It is clear that ringtones for songs from decades ago may not be legal, we’ll advise you to stay away from them. It is safer to buy those kinds, or if you have the song, you can create your own ringtone.

Now we have cleared all that, we’ll show you our top sites for downloading ringtones.

How to Use Ringtone’s Websites

iPhone and other iOS users cannot download ringtones directly from their phones and expect to have them applied as ringtones. That feature is only possible on Android devices.

If you’re on an iPhone, you can still use most of these ringtone websites but you’ll have to download the file to your computer first and then use your computer (usually with iTunes) to transfer the ringtone to your phone. Though we have carefully created a guide to add a ringtone to your iPhone without using iTunes. And even without using a computer. The guide is down the scroll.

Why Can’t I Download a Ringtone and Use it straight Away on my iPhone?

Some ringtones might not be in the correct audio format to actually be usable as a ringtone on your device. For example, maybe you have an MP3 ringtone that you want to use on an iPhone. If that’s the case, use a free audio converter program to convert the file to the correct format for your device.

What is the Safest Ringtone Apps?

Some of the sites we will be listing here has a standalone app, you could just open on your phone and search for ringtones and tap on the download button to have it downloaded on your phone but a majority of them is a web app.

Which is the Best Website to Download Ringtones?

Quickly, we are going to reveal the best safest site to download ringtones for your Android and iPhone.

Zedge

On Zedge, you will find a variety of user-created ringtones. You can decide to search for ringtones on the site, but it doesn’t really give any real organization as there are no categories to browse. As you scroll through, you will find more ringtones loaded to the screen so you can select any.

Apart from having options to download the ringtones, you can preview them on the main page or the page allocated to the ringtone.

Zedge makes it easy by also offering applications for iOS and Android which have proven to have a better interface and allows you to scan through categories.

Notification Sounds

Notification Sounds is where you are able to find ringtones that are close to what you intend to have come in your phone from the point of manufacturing. It is not the usual website for ringtones.

Here the ringtones are organized by their categories and tags, and you go through as much as you would love. You can use the preview option to listen quickly, and this can also be done on mobile devices.

You can download an MP3 version for Android devices or an M4R version for iPhones, this download being when you find a ringtone you like. If you use an iPhone, you’ll have to transfer the ringtone to your device using iTunes.

You should know that with Notification Sounds the tones are more for notifications, than they are for ringtones, for this, they are quite short. The choice is limited when looking for ringtones for calls.

Melofania

Have you thought of creating ringtones from YouTube videos? With Melofania you enjoy that, and can also upload your own music. Melofania is a great website for ringtones with a whole lot of features.

With the search option, you can find your favorite ringtones and preview them. You will also see different modifications of the ringtones and once you have selected a ringtone of your choice, you can click the Android or iPhone button and the ringtone for the precise format you need. Android users can download directly to their phones, but iOS users will have to use their computer and iTunes as a link.

Important Note: We earlier stated that downloading ringtones made from popular songs is infringing on a copyright. As a result of this, we recommend that you only make use of Melofania for music you own legally and possess the right to modify and use it as a ringtone.

MyTinyPhone

On MyTinyPhone, the ringtones are arranged into different categories like Jazz, Voice, Rock, Themes, Fun, and more which makes it easy to locate what you need. The collection of ringtones here is about half a million.

One thing you’ll love about MyTinyPhone is that the ringtones here have a star rating and has a view count, with such an option you can quickly select from popular ringtones. The only problem would be that you can’t just sample the ringtone by a click. When you click on it, it takes another process of directing you to the ringtone’s page to listen to, which you may not be patient with.

But even with that, you can still enjoy the large collection and categorization, you also get to download in either MP3 or M4R format.

By opening a specific ringtone page, you have an option to listen to the tone and its modifications. If it’s a ringtone you like, you can click the download button to start the process. The only thing you might not like is the fact that you have to create an account to download ringtones from Audiko, a worthy compensation is a fact that all your downloaded ringtones are saved in your account, and you get to download the Android or iOS versions for them, whenever you like.

For Audiko, there’s an Android App, which is free to use and does the same thing as the website. For iOS, it is a paid app that costs $0.99, you shouldn’t let that trouble you as it has the same function as the website. You will need your computer and iTunes to transfer the ringtone to your iPhone.

Mobile9

Download ringtones from mobile9 through their website or via the mobile app for Android devices. If on the website, just search for your device to get started.

You can sort the ringtones at mobile9 by what’s currently popular, the newest ringtones they’ve added, or the all-time best ringtones. Filters let you pick which category or ringtone to look for and the “Family Filter” can hide adult ringtones.

Preview ringtones if you like or go straight to the download. However, know that mobile9 ringtones will not download immediately; you have to wait 30 seconds for each.

Things to have in Mind: The ringtones on this website will download in the correct format for the device you selected from the start. If it’s not the right format, use an audio converter, select a new device, or view all the ringtones they have for all devices.

Tones7

If the above websites have too many bells and whistles for your liking, then you’ll love the Tones7 ringtone website because it’s extremely easy to use.

Search for a ringtone or browse for one by popularity, recently added, or genre. After you preview the ringtone, you can download it as an MP3 or M4R file.
