How to Send a Message to a Distribution List in Outlook

The shocking thing is that it doesn’t matter of version that you are using. The same step will be used in Outlook version 2019, 2016, 2013, 2010, 2007, and Outlook for Microsoft 365.

How to Send a Message to a Distribution List in Outlook

To send the same email to an entire distribution list in your Outlook here is how to do that:

  • Start a new email message in your Outlook. To do that, select the Home button and click on New Mail.
  • Head to the field tagged “TO” and click on it.
  • Click on the Distribution List.
  • Next, select Bcc.
  • Enter the email address in the “To” box. If by any way you want to use a descriptive name in the “To” box, do well to cover your email address with < AND > after you enter the descriptive name in front.
  • Click on “Ok” to continue with the next step.
  • You can now compose the message into the message field.
  • When you are done, click on the “Send” button. Doing this will distribute the email to everyone on the distribution list.

As long as you enter your email address in the “To” box, you will also receive a copy of the email. There is totally nothing wrong with doing this.

How to Send an Email Mailing List

You can share a contact or distribution list to a person or group of people with your Outlook account.

  • Start to create a new email message in Outlook. To do that, Move to the Home Tab and Click on New Email.
  • You can select the contact you want from the main menu window. Rather, you should minimize the window for the email so you will see the Home window wide.
  • Drag the distribution list from contacts into the open message body.
  • Key in the recipients to whom you want to send the list in the “To” field.
  • Key in a subject and the message into the body field.
  • Afterward, just click on Send.

Note: Remember that you can send a message request to a distribution list.
